The most vital part of Reign of Olympia will be it's human base model. At the moment, I am working on the male human base model, and once that is completed, it will be some time before I move on to create playable human females. The main reason for this is that in Ancient Greece, in most city-states, women were opressed and forced to live inside for most of their lives. Also, it means less work for me for a while. Eventually you'll get to roleplay your prostitutes and lesbians, don't worry First I downloaded a royalty free model from Turbo Squid. Next I had to cleanup the mesh (removing mouth interior and unecessary eyelashes). I cut the head from the torso and decimated each seperately, leaving the face with much of the original detail while removing alot from the body where it is less necessary. Before texturing or animating, I am going to create several modification meshes to attach to the base model. These will be all "clothing" item types, from cloth wrap, actual clothing, leather armour, and plate armour. All modifications to the human mesh like this will be stored in the same blender file for easy animation reference. Here are some of the clothing items I wish to make for the human mesh: Basic newbie clothing. More expensive cloth, for philosophers, priests, politicians... A selection of items I want to make for warriors and fighters. Some more cloth apparel. Hoplite armour. I'll post updates as I go. Don't be afraid to ask questions about this stuff.

I've done a fair bit of progress work since posting.
The base model is:
Male Has two pieces of clothing, a chitoniskos (short body wrap), and a chlamys and chiton combination (cloak and body wrap).
Two helmets, Corinthian and a more basic Corinthian.
Spear, Shield modelled. Two types of hair, messy and clean. Both are about shoulder length.
Crests for helmets modelled, one down the spine of the helmet as "captain" the other from ear to ear as "strategos/general". I may, rather than having them as seperate meshes, simply make variations of the main helmet mesh with crests added.
Walk, attack, idle, and idlevar animations done. 16 more to go.
Mesh is lower poly now (4348 triangles).
The walk animation

Having a few issues with Cal3D exporting, using B2CS, so I'm going to finish the model then throw it through Blender 2.55 (which has a Cal3D exporter too) and see how it fares there.

*bump* Update time I guess! Athenian Soldier, wearing a chlamys, long chiton, bearing an Athenian Shield and wearing an Attic helmet. Lakonian Spartiate, wearing a chitoniskos, breastplate, Spartiate Shield, and a Chalcidian helmet (so he is either deemed heroic or scavenged it in battle). The attackidle and attack animations.
